The scientific evidence shows that the object thrown from heaven destroyed Atlantis. Google Earth shows Atlantis at the bottom of the Atlantic just where Plato told us it was. Ancient literature and "mythology" is filled with stories of an early civilization that was destroyed by a great worldwide flood. Plato said it was Atlantis. Plato has long been accepted as the first to write about Atlantis as was documented in his classic dialogs: Timaeus andCritias written about 360 to 370 BC. The dialogues are recorded as conversations between Socrates, Hermocrates, Timeaus, and Critias. Plato's story describes Atlantis and a conflict between the ancient Athenians (Greeks) and the Atlantians that occurred 9,000 years before Plato's time. The story was initially told to an ancestor of Critias by Solon who was told the story by an ancient Egyptian priest. Many have believed that Atlantis is a fiction created by Plato. After all Plato wrote about Atlantis 9,000 years after it was destroyed. Well Plato was not the first to write about it. A very much earlier document written in 9619 BC, about 9,250 years before Plato's writing has been found. This ancient document is believed to be the oldest document that has survived almost intact down through the ages. Further, archeological finds and scientific evidence provide convincing proof that Atlantis really did exist. Atlantis is perhaps just the latest "old myth" becoming a reality. Scientific findings have in the past proved that many of the ancient myths were based in reality. Enough evidence has been discovered to prove that Atlantis was real. Earth's geological forces continuously change the face of Earth; some very slowly through the ages, and some very suddenly. The most well known slow changes are caused by wind, rain and other weather erosions. But perhaps the greatest of the slow changes are caused by plate tectonics which cause the continents to continuously drift relative to each other. Creation of Atlantis Perhaps the best solid evidence for the existence of Atlantis predates Plato's dialogs by about 225-250 million years. At that time essentially all of Earth's land masses were grouped into one large continent called Pangaea; meaning "all lands" in Greek. But the land masses sit on large structures in the Earth's crust call tectonic plates. These plates are constantly moving and this causes the various land masses, continents and islands to drift relative to each other. The Earth itself is made of 3 layers: the crust, mantle, and core. The mantle has a brittle portion somewhat like the crust, and a softer portion that interfaces with the molten core. The crust and the brittle top of the mantle essentially "float" on the softer part of the mantle and core. This moving portion of Earth's surface is made up of several "tectonic plates". These plates are steadily moving relative to each other. Forces associated with plate tectonics can also cause sudden changes like the disasters of earthquakes and volcanoes. Plate tectonics can build new lands like the recent creation of the Island of Surtsey in Iceland. They can cause and feed volcanoes like those in Iceland and Hawaii. And they can cause the sinking of land masses as recorded in geological history. It was the forces of plate tectonics that created Atlantis. And it was the forces of plate tectonics triggered by a celestial impact that destroyed Atlantis. Movement of these plates is caused by the release and redistribution of energy from Earth's interior. This energy results from the enormous forces of gravity on the great masses of Earth and on thermal energy generated by radioactive decay. The energies are not uniform and the differences at various locations place great stresses on the rocks and other materials that make up the Earth's surfaces. The drifting of these plates over the last 200 thousand years changed the surface of the Earth from the single continent of Pangaea, and a single ocean, to the various continents and oceans that we have today. This drifting is the primary cause of earthquakes, volcanoes, the creation and rising of mountains, and the sinking of land masses. It is the rising of mountains that created Atlantis; it is the sinking of land masses that destroyed Atlantis. And the continents continue to drift apart at the rate of a fraction of an inch to a few inches per year. As the land masses of North America drifted apart from the land masses of Europe and Africa, the Atlantic Ocean was created. As they pulled apart, the crust that makes up the Ocean's bottom became thinner. This thinness results in a weakness that allowed the hot magma below the upper crust to break through the bottom of the Ocean and form a ridge. This resulted in an underwater mountain range that is the longest mountain range in the world; longer than the Andes in South America, or the Himalayas in Asia, or the North America's Rockies. With its twists and turns the mountain range is about 47,000 miles long; almost twice the distance around the entire Earth which is only 25,000 miles around. The portion of this long mountain chain that runs trough the Atlantic Ocean is called the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Running along the top of this chain of mountains is a deep crack, called a rift valley. It is here that new ocean floor is continuously created. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge runs north and south between North America and Europe. This underwater mountain range breaks above the Ocean to form a large number of rocks and islands. Some of these include the following. Island Peak Location Jan Mayen 7500 ft 71° 06' N, 08° 12' W Iceland 6920 ft 64° 01' N, 16° 41' W Azores Islands 7711 ft 38° 28 N 28° 24′ W Bermuda 249 ft 32° 18′ N, 64° 47′ W [Bermuda was formed on the ridge and then drifted far to the West.] Saint Peter and Paul Rocks 74 ft 00° 55′ N, 29° 20′ W Ascension Island 2818 ft 7° 59' S, 14° 25' W Tristan da Cunha 6763 ft 37° 05' S, 12° 17' W Gough Island 2985 ft 40° 20' S, 10° 00' W Bouvet Island 2560 ft 54° 24' S, 03° 21' E There are 9 significant islands and groups of islands in addition to Atlantis that were created on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The Azores Islands are the remains of Atlantis. The archipelago of the Azores consists of many mostly underwater islets and 9 significant islands divided into three groups: 1. The Eastern Group of Sao Miguel and Santa Maria 2. The Central Group of Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico and Faial 3. The Western Group of Flores and Corvo. The archipelago extends for 373 miles from Corvo in the Western Group to Santa Maria in the Eastern Group. The Azores are mountain tops remaining above water after Atlantis sank. The Azores Islands as seen on Google Earth shows the rough underwater mountainous structure on which the Islands set and which is the sunken Atlantis. The Azores Islands rise from the ocean bed on a large submarine feature known as the Azores Platform. It is a somewhat triangular-shaped area covering some 155,000 square miles. That's about the size of California. The Vela Supernova A rather large, but otherwise common star in the constellation of Vela, situated about 45 light years from our solar system, became a supernova and exploded sometimes between 14,300 and 11,000 years ago. This can be approximated by observable debris fields. The most visible remains of the supernova is the Vela Supernova Remnant which, interestingly, has the uncanny appearance of the popular conception of Satan! Supernovae occur at the end of the lives of massive stars, when they have exhausted their nuclear fuel. The star begins to collapse into its self and then explodes, releasing as much energy in a few days as is normally emitted in the same time period by the entire galaxy of billions of stars. Such a supernova is not a rare event in the universe. Several have been observed in a single year. However supernovae are rare in our own Milky Way Galaxy. The last supernova in our galaxy was Cassiopeia, which was first viewable from earth in 1680 AD. It is 9 to 11 thousand light years from earth, near the edge of our Milky Way Galaxy, so it actually exploded sometime between 9,323 and 11,323 years ago. In ancient Ethiopia, Cassiopeia was believed to be the mother of Andromeda. We now recognize Andromeda as another galaxy and Cassiopeia as the remains of the youngest supernova in our Milky Way Galaxy. Betelgeuse is expected to be the next major star in our galaxy to become a supernova. It is 425 light years away. When it goes, it will be visible all day, and cast a light at night. Betelgeuse makes up the right shoulder of the constellation Orion. It is interesting to note that Orion was a major feature in the religions of many ancient peoples, and is believed by many to be a model for the layout of the pyramids of Gaza in Egypt. The Vela supernova probably ejected a mass of material about 1.4 times the size of our sun. A chunk of this material, calculated to be a little larger than our earth, was hurled towards our solar system at an average speed of between 1 percent and 10 percent the speed of light. Calculations suggest that the most likely average speed was 1/62 the speed of light. This mass of material would have been a glob of glowing hot matter. It would have been pulled into an elongated sphere by its own gravity, combined with the slightly varying velocities of adjacent materials. Some of the additional expelled materials, slightly farther away from the largest mass would have then been gravitationally attracted to this very large mass. These additional materials would have become a stream of trailing materials that tended to rotate about the center of mass of the largest mass. After a time, this combined "chunk" of materials would have begun to appear to be the glowing hot, bigheaded serpent described in the Bible and other ancient literature. It would appear to undulate because of the rotation of parts of the trailing materials. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9 As the great mass of materials approached earth, earth's atmosphere began to be pulled by gravity towards the large stream of the spiraling material. These materials were more than 50 times the size of the earth, most however, got no closer than 60,000 miles. The winds continuously increased until they reached super-hurricane force. The winds were initially strongest over the North American Continent because of Satan's approach, I.e. from northwest to southeast, first nearing earth on the northwest corner of the North American Continent. But all of earth experienced strong winds. These winds caused damages many times greater than the damage we experience from our strongest hurricanes and tornados of today. They eventually built up to intensities strong enough to sweep most surface materials into violent debris clouds and redeposit some of them hundreds of miles from their original positions. These new deposits also contained materials from the chunk and from Tiamat. Trees were pulled up by the roots and strewn many miles away. Entire forests were swept away. The winds eroded away sand and earthen hills down to base rock. Sand and grit in the winds polished rocks, and in some cases also eroded them away. Even large boulders were blown miles from their normal positions. The Mayans named these severe winds after their god Hurakan. A corruption of this name became hurricane. The Mesopotamians said that their god Marduk created the evil wind, and tempest, and the hurricane, and the fourfold wind, and the sevenfold wind, and the whirlwind, and the wind which has no equal. The violent winds made extremely loud noises. North American Indians remember a monster with a whistle in his mouth. The Electromagnetic Discharges Enormous electromagnetic discharges flashed between earth and the various components of the swarm of materials. These discharges became ever more violent as the materials approached nearer to earth. The severe lighting and unbelievable noise sent many scurrying to caves, rocks, and other possible shelters. This may have been the major warning that most people received, and may have resulted in more people being saved than did any other factor. Heat and Evaporation These ever-increasing discharges created great heat. The lakes and rivers began to evaporate. The seas steamed. This added to the imbalance in electromagnetic charge, and caused the discharges to continue, creating even more heat. The heat became enormous. All shallow rivers and lakes evaporated completely. The seas and oceans continued to steam and parts of them boiled away. The earth's surface was heated to such a degree that water within rocks exploded the rocks, adding to the swirling debris. Fires and Debris Grasses, trees, and other combustibles burst into flame, starting many great fires. This added to the velocity of the great winds, creating super-hurricane firestorm intensities on various parts of earth. The great winds swept up great qualities of dust, vegetation, dirt, and even large rocks, and carried them in scouring debris over much of the earth. Debris of various types filled valleys and depressions and piled drifts across the countryside. The combustible materials, blowing in the great hurricanes, fed the fires, causing them to burn much of everything encountered. Crust Fractures and Earthquakes The gravitational tidal waves within the earth caused by the close approach of the large mass of materials resulted in great fractures in the earth's crust. The great tectonic plates broke into more pieces. Earthquakes occurred all over the where. Thousands of volcanoes erupted, spewing rocks, dust, smoke, and lava into the building chaos. These materials began to rain down on the surface in depths of thousands of feet in some places. Great avalanches of sand, dirt, and rock raced across the land at over 200 miles per hour. Tsunamis raced across the seas at over 500 miles per hour. Escaping gases ignited, adding to the great fires. Boiling hot steam, filled with grit, sprayed about the areas, "polishing" stones and destroying most materials in their paths. Boiling mud and mudslides flowed into many depressions. Lava and magma flowed liberally. The earth's poles flipped and reversed the magnetic charges, creating even more heat. The firestorms were intensified. Now all of the seas began to boil, further evaporating. The cracks in the earth's crust became more numerous, and larger. The tectonic plates fractured more and moved independently of each other, thrusting up great mountains and sinking great landmasses. Areas in the Himalayan Mountains and in the Alps were thrust up an additional 6,000 feet. Mountains in China (Bayuan Kara Shan) thrust up an additional 6,500 feet. The Sierra Nevada and Cascades in California and Oregon also gained heights of an additional 6,500 feet. The Tibetan Plateau increased elevations by 9,750 feet. Alpine peaks increased by 13,000 feet, as did the Andes. The Rockies were thrust eastward by 8 miles. And great areas sank, replacing the material that had been thrust up in the increased elevations. Extremely large landmasses in the Pacific Ocean sank. The floor of the North Atlantic Ocean sank over 9,000 feet. The land about the Azores sank almost 3 miles. And Atlantis sank over 9,000 feet. Great fords were opened in the Scandinavian areas. The Gobi Desert changed from a lake to a dry plain that later became a desert. Some of the great ancient rivers of India disappeared. Almost the entire surface of the earth was changed. The atmosphere became saturated with smoke, dust, water vapor, and debris. This further intensified the discharges between earth, earth's atmosphere, and the various bodies still approaching earth. And the heat was even further intensified. Most of the small seas evaporated completely, and much of the oceans boiled away. The heat was far too great for any of the water vapor to condense to form rain. Some of the cracks in the earth's crust opened further, swallowing everything nearby. Some shifted; then closed on their swallowed materials. Some stayed open and became the great fords and locks we still have today. Many of the volcanic eruptions and earthquakes could be felt 1000 miles away. All of the earth trembled with shocks and reverberating aftershocks. And some of the seismic activity started then is still going on today. Great Ocean Waves Formed The great mass of materials continued towards earth. Water remaining in the oceans was drawn into a pile towards the great approaching masses to form a water thickness many miles high. It tended to follow the stream of materials as the materials passed close to earth's surface. But the water could not move fast enough to follow. It continued to pile up until the stream of masses passed. Impacts The spirally orbiting larger chunks within the stream of materials came within earth's Roche Zone, I.e. within 8 to 12 thousands miles of earth. The gravitational tidal waves caused them to explode. One broke into three major chunks and millions of smaller pieces. At least two of the large pieces and at least a million of the smaller pieces fell to earth. Some pieces continued on with the great mass. Some scattered and became meteors and asteroids. Millions of pieces impacted the earth and formed the Carolina Bays and similar craters still visible today. Two very large pieces fell into the ocean east of the Carolinas and formed the large craters still visible in the Atlantic Ocean. Rains of gravel-like stones and various types of debris fell on much of the earth. All of this activity added even more heat. The debris deposited by the great masses and from the displacements caused by the passing can be found predominately along the principle path of the pass-by. Great Waves Wash over the Land Earth's moon is drawn towards the mass and pulled into a wider orbit. The rest of the great masses whizzed on past earth, headed towards a collision with the sun. When the stream of mass had passed, the pile of waters of the oceans collapsed and sent great waves, some over 3 miles high initially, over all landmasses except for the very highest. Plato That's perhaps a more detailed explanation of what happened than Plato's. He was a bit more terse. He simply said: "Some time later there were earthquakes and floods of extraordinary violence and in a single dreadful day and night all your [I.e., Athenian] fighting men were swallowed up by the earth, and the island of Atlantis was similarly swallowed up by the sea and vanished." We found an ancient scroll written in 9619 BC by people hiding in a cave and witnessing the destruction of Atlantis. It, plus many artifacts prove that Atlantis was real.
