THE GREEN LADY GHOST OF FYVIE CASTLE

Situated in expansive parkland north of Aberdeen, this ancient baronial castle dates back to the 13th century, and is one of the most haunted buildings in Scotland. One of the castle's well-known ghosts is Dame Lilias Drummond. Known as the 'Green Lady of Fyvie', on account of her wearing a greenish dress, Lilias has been witnessed on many occasions since the 17th century. She is said to manifest in the halls and on the great staircase, having been spotted by both staff and visitors alike. Apparently she was once seen in a mirror by a tourist visiting the castle. The smell of roses is said to accompany her presence. Dame Lilias was married to Alexander Seton, the then laird of Fyvie, of whom she bore five daughters. However she was unable to provide Seton with his much longed for male heir. She died in 1601, aged about thirty; some say under suspicious circumstances. Soon after Lilias's death, Alexander married a beautiful young woman by the name of Grizel Leslie. It was on the couple's wedding night that a very odd and unaccountable incident occurred. The newly-weds had retired to bed in an upper chamber of the castle, when Grizel was awakened in the small hours by a strange moaning, a sort of horribly unearthly sighing coming from beyond the bedroom window. She roused her husband and he went to investigate but didn't find anything. However sleep proved elusive for young Grizel as the moaning persisted. The following morning Grizel went to check the window and got a terrible fright. Inscribed into the very stone of the window sill were the words "D. Lilias Drummond". Had Dame Lilias returned from the grave and carved her name in stone? The room where Alexander and Grizel had slept is located very high up and would have been difficult to access, so how the inscription got there is anyone's guess. It can still be seen to this day. Some say the ghost of Lilias Drummond only manifests when a laird at the castle is about to die. Tradition tells of how she was seen on a December afternoon in 1879 by Alick Gordon, the brother of the then laird, Colonel Cosmo Gordon, who had been ill in bed at the time. Cosmo did indeed die soon after and Alick came into possession of Fyvie. The story of Dame Lilias's ghost isn't the only creepy tale from Fyvie Castle. Other stories include the walled-up skeleton uncovered by workmen in the 1920s; the terrible curse of the weeping stones, and the mysteriously sealed chamber - said to hide a ghastly secret. THE ASTRAL PLAIN

Paranormal and psychic happeningsHome » Reference and Education » Paranormal Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Custom Search Search Stephen Russell-Lacy Diamond Quality Author Diamond Author | 232 Articles Joined: December 29, 2010 United Kingdom Astral Plane - Real or Imagined? By Stephen Russell-Lacy | Submitted On May 08, 2016 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Stephen Russell-Lacy The astral plane is said to be another dimension of reality coexistent in space with our physical world. It is featured in the television show Charmed, in which it is described as a realm of "spirits and energies" and a place where time does not progress. Carl Jung practised what he called 'active imagination' and reported that in his mind he regular met and consulted an old man called Philemon. Whether one calls this degree of consciousness a psychic, mental or astral plane, it is one where all feelings and thoughts become detectable: just as noticeable as physical objects that are visible to our natural eyes. You might wonder if Jung was projecting his expectations or hopes onto an imagined guru figure who had no independent existence? Perhaps all so-called experiences of the astral plane consist of mistakenly attributing what is imagined in the mind to an objective reality. On the other hand, arguably we are distracted by sensations from the day to day physical world and so do not experience the existence of any spiritual reality beyond it. The Neanderthals 100,000 - 25,000 years ago buried their dead in graves containing food and flint implements that would then be needed. And throughout human history there has been belief in the reality of an afterlife in a non-material plane of existence. So is the astral plane real or imagined? Common idea of astral plane Hindus, Buddhists, Theosophists, and Anthroposophists, amongst others, give accounts of events after death which are basically very similar. After death the soul is said to consist of the astral body - the personal consciousness - that is fully parted from the physical body. The individual then enters into a state in which one's past life is reviewed in-depth and desires and emotions are re-experienced, the soul perhaps inflicting its own purgatory on itself. This suffering is said to bring purification after which the astral body too is allowed to dissolve away. Astral plane and Swedenborg's 'World of spirits' There is a fascinating account of the astral plane actually arising from personal experience lasting many years. Eighteenth century visionary, Emanuel Swedenborg, wrote it. He called this astral plane of life 'the world of spirits', a transitional level of the 'spiritual world'. The spiritual world is said to be the inner world of mind of which we usually only have full consciousness after our bodily death. In his book Window to Eternity, Bruce Henderson has pointed out the reasonable as well as detailed way Swedenborg wrote about the spiritual world. He says this demonstrates that this is not just one man's fanciful imagination; it is a special vision. Visual aspects of Astral plane According to traditional spiritualism, after death the soul eventually wakes up in some land, a realm of consciousness created by the desires of the individual. Likewise Swedenborg reports that the surroundings he experienced in the 'world of spirits' reflect the thoughts and feelings of its inhabitants. Whether or not thoughts and feelings are good and rational, or bad and illusory, these inner states of heart and mind are represented by corresponding natural qualities and things. Light or dark: warm or cold: beautiful or ugly. Afterlife process in Astral plane Swedenborg wrote that there is nothing that a person has ever sought in him or herself or done in secret that can be concealed after death. All things and each single thing are then laid open as clear as in daylight. However he says all the secret things in one's life are not suddenly revealed to others. Our inner character only slowly can manifest. But in this way our selfish attitudes can be eventually seen for what they are and, if we will, turned away from. In so far as we do not do so we suffer the consequences as a sort of self-inflicted punishment. Something similar to this is taught in Tibetan Buddhism. The Bardo is a state between death and rebirth. 'The Tibetan book of the dead' describes the individual being aware of a radiant colour light of pure reality. This is the chance of the self to obtain Nirvana, by abandoning ego existence and becoming one with the light. But most souls are not willing to be reunited with the light of this stage. The self then acquires a karmic body formed by the action of past thoughts and deeds and encounters all the deities that are projected by its own mind both benign and vengeful, loving and judgemental in accordance with its beliefs and conditioning whilst on Earth. Judgement and punishment follow. "This description of the afterlife process parallels that of other occult traditions where the astral body creates its own reality until the desires and emotions which drive it have been purged." (Donald Watson) Ruling love and the astral plane It is widely thought that the astral body gravitates to a level appropriate to its make up on the astral plane. This is probably the reason that some religions insist that right emotions are more important that actions or beliefs. Similarly, Swedenborg would say that the crucial thing is one's intentions. However, he fastens on the general intention that rules our heart. According to this idea underlying all the various interests, desires, goals we have is one pervasive and prevailing love, the love that rules you. It develops through many personal choices made in life. It is what turns up when we reflect on the things that please us most. "It is not necessarily what comes into your mind... that reveals your true character, but what you do with those thoughts or would like to do if you could." (Bruce Henderson) In Swedenborg's 'world of spirits' your ruling love points you in one direction or its opposite. Let's consider those souls orientated towards a higher plane of spiritual consciousness because they are ruled by good intentions. He claims that right thinking replaces their illusions. Those, however, with an opposite orientation, ruled by selfishness, according to Swedenborg, find what insights they have will be replaced by illusions. As this process takes place he says the person gravitates to the community of like-minded souls. In other words, we surround ourselves with thought forms in keeping with our astral states: and our desires and emotional attachments rule our existence on the astral plane after death. I would suggest that in this way we form our own heaven or hell. WHAT IS ALCHEMY

By Joy Cagil | Submitted On January 16, 2007 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Expert Author Joy Cagil Alchemy, in its essence, implies changing the nature of things. In the lore of some societies, this came to mean a lot over the course of time. Birds were thought to be the symbols of alchemy. Phoenix, Raven, White Swan, Peacock, and Pelican corresponded to an inner experience and inner dimension of spiritual being. The alchemist or the poet who observed the birds saw an image of the human soul going through a development that freed it from the earthly things, because the birds took flight between the physical and spiritual worlds and, if they landed, they landed on the Tree of Life or the Stone of wisdom. William Blake wrote: "How do you know but ev'ry Bird that cuts the airy way, Is an immense world of delight, clos'd by your senses five?" In most traditions, the language of birds is the tongue of Secret Wisdom, through myth and symbolism, not only in Alchemy but also in Kabbalah, Astrology, and Tarot. Alchemy was considered to be as deplorable as black magic at one time; yet, at another time and place, it was lauded as being the highest form of science bordering with art for being the science through which the baser materials like copper were changed into gold and silver. I remember from the time when I was into the Middle Eastern lore that there was this saint who could change dry leaves into gold through a formula given to him by the Creator. Of course, being a saint, he didn't need the gold, so he changed the gold back to dried leaves in one night. This is a parable, as the human imagination has no bounds. The earliest form of alchemy existed in old Egypt where magic ruled. Ancient Egyptians believed that magical powers existed in metallic things, alloys, and the like. Chances are, the whole thing was based on Hermes Trismegistus's art from the ancient Greek times. The seed or at least the hope of alchemy subsisted also inside Europe's bronze working classes and in old Byzantium. Over the centuries, numerous publications came to existence requiring scholarly inquisition on the art (or science) of alchemy. If alchemy's first obsession was gold, the second was to discover a potion that would prolong life, or better yet, that would make man immortal. The third obsession of alchemy has been the manufacture of human life, artificially of course, which is scary. I imagine it ending up like the dry leaves parable. Transmutation of metals could supposedly be accomplished by the Philosopher's Stone, which had been associated with the Salt of the World, The Elixir and the like. In its conceptual form the stone reflected higher wisdom and intelligence. The entire process of alchemy was based upon the research and examination of nature and the way in which it operated, how the metals became metals inside the depths of the earth, and how sulphur and mercury acted upon them. According to alchemists, nature was divided into male and female and also into four regions: dry, cold, warm, and moist. Ayurveda healing comes to mind; although, I don't recall if or how the two can be connected. Into all this study, of course, went the alchemist's character, which had to be truthful. Someday, all these things that alchemy wanted to accomplish may be possible through science. But what then? What if we changed everything into gold? Remember the story of Midas? What if the thing we changed with good intentions through alchemy or science resulted in calamity? I have a feeling that in order to dare change the base or nature of anything, one has to know everything in its entirety. Possibly, that privilege belongs only to the Creator. One may use alchemy in another way, however. A soft word, a friendly smile, a holding of a hand, and our intent for world peace can be the best Philosopher's Stone we can use. Maybe this way, we won't have to change the essence of anything and anyone, but we may help them find a full meaning inside their basic framework. HAUNTED HOSPITALS IN MASSACHUSETTS

Paranormal and psychic happeningsHome » Reference and Education » Paranormal Join Sign in EzineArticles - Expert Authors Sharing Their Best Original Articles Custom Search Search Roberta Y Basic Author | 2 Articles Joined: June 26, 2017 United States Haunted Hospitals in Massachusettes By Roberta Y | Submitted On June 26, 2017 Recommend Article Article Comments Print Article Plymouth County Hospital/Hanson Tuberculosis Hospital is located in Hanson Massachusetts. The hospital was built during the late 1910's, primarily as a Tuberculosis hospital. The facility was operational from 1923 until it closed its doors for good in 1991. In 1982, the hospital officially became the Cranberry Specialty Hospital and received people who were terminal ill. In 1991, the last remaining patients were transferred to a different location. The Spanish-style architecture of the Plymouth County Hospital is much different then most of the New England hospitals, which is a look that makes it very unique. The Spanish-style design gives it an almost ominous appearance. The sprawling 56-acre property was sold from Plymouth County to the town of Hanson in 1999. In 2001, 23 of the 56 acres were sold to Baran Partners who planned to build townhouses and an assisted-living facility, but those plans never came through. Many people that have visited the hospital believe that it is indeed haunted. Strange noises, eerie screams, and whispers have all been heard both inside and outside of the building. Laughter and music playing are also sounds that are commonly heard. A general feeling of being watched or not being alone when going near the building is also something that is commonly reported. Supposedly, during a paranormal investigation of the property strange EMF readings were picked up even though there is no electricity in the building. Reports of equipment, such as video cameras, failing or shutting off is also quite common. Orbs captured in pictures have also been documented. Whether visitors experience strange phenomenon or not one thing is for certain and that is that everyone who visits agrees that the place has a very eerie feeling to it. Haunted or not, one thing is for certain and that is that the general over all feeling after visiting or seeing pictures of the hospital is that it is indeed one creepy place. Given the hospital's history and strange Spanish-style design, it is hard not to feel that way about the place. Sadly, fire destroyed the North wing of the building in 2004. A second fire happened a year and a half after the first and was found to be arson. In addition to the fires, the hospital has also been victim to much vandalism over the years. As a result, the grounds are patrolled heavily, by the Hanson Police Department. Trespassing on the property is against the law.
