Remember Your Dreams and Learn to Wake Up Inside Them

Have you ever wanted to wake up and take control of your dreams? Perhaps you would simply like to remember the adventures you had while quietly slumbering away the night?
With a brief explanation of how and why and by following a few simple steps you'll be on the track to lucid dreaming in no time.
First off, before going any further I must warn you that this experience may change your life and force you to dive into many other fascinating and related topics such as Astral Projection and energy manipulation, that of which will have to be written about in an another article. Again, you have been warned.
OK, on with the show. Lucid dreaming, what is it? Well, lucid dreaming is the act of being aware that you are dreaming. Simply put you are asleep, you are in a dream and you know it! Not only do you know that you are dreaming but you can do anything your little heart desires! Sounds cool doesn't it?
Lucid dreaming accidentally happens in one of two ways, first you fall asleep and start dreaming, and shortly thereafter you somehow realize your smack dab in the middle of a dream.
Option two is a tad more frightening but none the less gets you to that point of sleep induced self awareness.
Say you have been awake for two days and you have been drinking coffee non stop for the past 12 hours or so. One could only imagine how physically tired you would be after being awake for two days and you could probably fall asleep quicker then your head could hit the pillow but what about all that coffee? If you are like me all it takes is a cup of Joe and the mind won't shut off for nothing.
So you lie down in bed and just think about all those cheap romance novels you probably shouldn't have been reading, shortly there after you decide to roll over on your side and you find that you can't. What do you mean you can't? That's right it happens!
Your body falls asleep before your mind does. It's called sleep paralysis and it's something that goes on behind the scenes that keeps the body from physically acting out dreams and you really shouldn't be aware about this consciously but some times there are coffee induced slip ups. Hey the world isn't perfect.
Anyway, what science seems to think is that you pretty much get right down to the meat and potatoes of sleeping. Instead of passing through the first couple stages of traditional sleep you cut the middle man and jump right on over to REM sleep, which of course is where all the dreaming happens. This technique of lucid dream induction is coined the Wake Initiation of Lucid Dreams (WILD) technique.
You'll be surprised how frightening this can be for the first timer, strange noises, BEING PARALYZED, feeling as though you are falling through your bed and oh that's right, strange scary noises and being paralyzed!!
Let it be known that this experience is normal to the practicing astral projector, hemi-sync practitioner and experienced lucid dreamer, so don't go assuming that you fell into some evil dimension or something.
Ok, moving on. First thing you need to do is create a dream log and place it next to your bed. Also, invest in a small flashlight so your significant other isn't whining about your lucid antics as you'll be waking up in the middle of the night recording your dreams directly after they happen.
The number one absolute most essential thing you must learn to do before learning lucid dream induction techniques is to recall your dreams. You might be thinking to yourself, "But I don't dream," and I say, "bite your tongue good sir (or mam) we all dream, some of us just lack the ability to properly remember those dreams".
In order for this to work you'll need to start remembering at least one dream per night. Now it might take a few nights before you really get into remembering your dreams on a consistent basis and you might forget altogether a few times when first starting out but don't despair this is normal.
Now, here's what you do. When it comes time to go to bed tonight, say these word's out loud, "SELF! I will have wonderful dreams tonight and I will wake up remembering all details to those wonderful dreams".
What this will do is prepare your mind for dream recall; kind of like telling yourself to wake up by 4am no matter what so you don't miss a flight or something.
If you are like me you wake up multiple times through out the night, when you do wake DO NOT MOVE!!!! Stay absolutely still and begin thinking about any dreams you may have had. We all fall into the trap of moving around and thinking about the days events and like a cassette tape after a magnet fight it's all erased; your dream is nothing more then an extinct after thought. So slowly open your eyes while remaining motionless and begin thinking about any dreams you may have had, this process gets easier as nights pass.
When starting out, this process can be rather difficult; sometimes we second guess the clues that surface from a dream and disregard writing them down. I say write down anything and everything that might jog your memory. It's amazing what a few key words will do to unlock the amazing storyline behind your dream experience.
You'll be surprised after a week or two of keeping a dream log you'll find yourself recalling more then just one dream a night. You'll also find patterns or signs in your dreams. These sign will help you induce a lucid dream.
As you read through your dream log look for correlations, perhaps a grandfather clock seems to pop up quite frequently in your dreams or MacGyver seems to pop up quite frequently bailing you out of some trouble, who knows? It could be anything from a physical object to a form of awareness, that is, you always start laughing for no good reason or something and again it could be anything.
The thing to remember is that you will use these signs as a mechanism for transitioning from a passive dream state to a lucid dream state.
What do you do with these signs you ask? Well, once you recognize these rather consistent patterns of events you can begin using these clues to determine if you are dreaming or not.
If a trailer park happens to be one of your dream signs then the next time you pass a trailer park ask yourself if your dreaming or not. It's that simple. This applies to both reality and the dream world. Soon you'll pass a trailer park and after asking yourself if this is a dream or not you'll come to the self realization that you are in fact dreaming and that this trailer park is one of your signs. We can only go from there!!
This is only one technique for inducing a lucid dream and it is, in my humble opinion, one of the easiest ways of inducing a lucid dream.
It will take a few weeks or if you are like me a month before you actually get to experience a lucid dream that didn't happen by accident.
If you can learn to remember your dreams and then learn to identify the strange but repeating patterns that inhabit your dreams and then ask yourself through out the day if you are dreaming or not, especially when one of your dream signs are present then you should have no trouble "waking" up inside a dream or two.
As you get better at this and become more familiar with your sleep habits you'll find other techniques for inducing lucid dreams and ways of sustaining their duration.
