grief puts a wall between you and the dead

I have found that grief puts a tremendous wall or spiritual barrier between you and the loved one who has passed over. The dead will usually contact the living while their asleep you may perceive them in a dream but they are with you even if you can't feel their presence. Which is unusual anyway.. I can smell my father's cigarettes on the breathe he blows on me quite often, also I get the faintest whiff of vodka it is not unpleasant in the least. He has sent many messages through my daughter in her dreams even now many years later. Sometimes when I can't eat he sends delicious aromas of the food he used to make to tempt me.
