The pals say it represents white figures, including two horses and a rider, at Berry Pomeroy Castle in Totnes, Devon. Legend has it that two of the Pomeroy brothers - part of the Seymour family which owned the castle in 1547 - took their own lives as they were chased by enemies, rather than fall into their hands. The young brothers, dressed in full armour, are thought to have rode their horses up to the top of the castle ramparts and together leapt to their deaths, reports Plymouth Live. The castle is reported to be one of the most haunted buildings in the UK, and the friends say they never expected to find any ghosts or paranormal things as they walked around the front of the castle. Chloe, 19, along with her partner Charlie and friends Tyler, Mya, Cody and Sam, visited the castle in the early hours of Saturday morning after being intrigued by the general scare factor. And the 19-year-old was left startled to find ghostly images appear on a picture she had taken. Chloe said: “We went in the early hours of this morning, the image was taken just before 1am. They say it shows horses and a rider (Image: PlymouthLive/ WS) READ MORE Terrifying 'GHOST of elderly woman' watching over five-year-old boy learning to ride bike from mansion window “I’ve never been there before, we weren’t intending to actually go there but Tyler told us it was meant to be haunted so we thought we would travel there. “Tyler is the only one who had been there before, so we followed him down. “Lots of people think its horses chasing someone, which I 100% believe too. “Charlie never believed in ghosts before and I have always been sceptical about it, I didn’t believe it 100 per cent until I saw it for myself. “This photo is enough to make me believe.” The group walked towards the castle and believed they heard a noise which “sounded like an animal”, but thought they had perhaps triggered a sensor alarm. Chloe continued: “Never in a million years did I think I’d get a photo like this one. “I took the image just in front of the café shack thing they have there. “It’s actually a beautiful castle but just freaky at night." Before the castle was sold to the Seymour family, it came under siege. Many visitors claim they have heard screams and noises in the area of the castle known as, Pomeroy’s Leap. Someone that goes up to expect to see something may end up seeing something small like a bird move and think it’s a spirit. “I am shocked at the amount of response I’ve had to it [the picture]. Some have said it’s the most realistic image they’ve seen. “I complete understand those who still don’t believe in it as I wouldn’t if I just saw a photo on Facebook.” Helen Lonsborough, Site Manager of Berry Pomeroy Castle said: “Berry Pomeroy Castle is a scheduled ancient monument in the care of English Heritage, and is open daily from 10am – 6pm.
